Need a unique piece of art to show someone how much you care? Stone and pebble art resembling families and the love they share. These pieces are simplistic yet beautiful. The possibilities are endless (within my creative realm:). Inspiration comes in many forms and each piece can be embellished with precious stones (amethyst in stock), lava rock, driftwood and twigs. The art will be smudged with a combination of traditional sweetgrass, sage and tobacco (I add a piece of tourmaline for grounding and protection) after it' complete. I little love will go into each creation!
My name is Joy, a mama of two little stone collectors:) I am also a retired Primary Care Paramedic with almost 16 years of service under my duty belt. Those years carry some pretty dark moments that will stay within my soul forever. The lighter moments of my career will also stay in my heart. Ones mental health can get awfully shaken dealing with trauma, personal and professional. Discovering I have PTSD was a difficult acceptance and enduring recovery. I am forever learning new coping skills. During healing I have been looking to embrace the creator within me that was hiding in the shadows. This brings us to my inspiration using one of the simplest and hardiest elements that can be found in nature; stone. Like us, stones are solid and grounded only becoming more beautiful and resilient the harder they are tumbled by life. I want to continue to give something of myself as I have throughout my career. I can do this by creating art for you celebrating your love for family and friends. A proceed of the sales generated from these pieces will be donated to a charity close to my heart; Wounded Warriors of Canada. Their goal is providing help to anyone in the front line of EMS fighting the shadows that haunt some of us. The latest reports show that one in four paramedics in Canada will develop PTSD in the course of their careers, and the suicide rates amongst paramedics are five times the national average. But despite increased public awareness around PTSD, there is still surprisingly little support for these civilian workers. Our brave instinct to fight has a uniting purpose of reaching out to each other in order not to lose more of our brothers and sisters to the chaos of occupational stress injuries.
